Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. They are differentiated as essential and nonessential amino acids. Essential amino acids are those which can’t be synthesised inside the body of either animals and humans but are synthesized only by plants. Hence one is required to get these essential aminoacids by diet. Nonessential amino acids are those which are formed inside the body by some reactions. So, one need not worry if he is geeting these aminoacids from external source or not.
The Food or other protein supplements we consume get broken down into aminoacids in the digestive system by the action of enzymes and get absorbed into the body. These aminoacids in the body help in building the proteins needed.
Every amino acid has a carboxylic moiety and an amino group. They are zwitter ions i.e they possess both positive and negative charge on the same molecule.
